Mediterranean Lemon Pepper Herb Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 Hillshire Farm Grilled Chicken Breast Lemon Pepper
    1 French Bread roll, split
    2 tablespoons mayonnaise
    1/4 cup baby spinach leaves
    2-3 slices drained roasted red bell pepper
    1 slice provolone cheese, cut in half

Directions:

1. Heat chicken according to package directions, if desired or serve cold.

2. Spread both sides of roll with mayonnaise

3. Fill with spinach, roasted red bell peppers, cheese and chicken. Serve immediately

Fajita Turkey Pepper Jack Kabobs

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm®Turkey Pepper Jack Links
    ¼ cup fresh lime juice
    2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    1 teaspoon ground cumin
    1 garlic clove, minced
    1 green and red bell pepper, cut into 1-1/2-inch chunks
    1 sweet onion, cut into 1” pieces

Directions:

1. Cut each sausage into 5 slices. Combine lime juice, cilantro, olive oil, cumin and garlic in a small bowl. Pour mixture into a re-sealable plastic bag. 2. Add sausage, peppers and onions to plastic bag; re-seal bag. Refrigerate 1 hour. 3. Remove sausage and vegetables from marinade; reserving marinade. Thread sausage, peppers and onion onto 6 skewers, leaving a small space between each item. 4. Grill kabobs over medium heat, turning frequently for 10-15 minutes or until vegetables are desired tenderness and sausage is browned, brushing kabobs occasionally with reserved marinade.
CheddarWurst® Topped with Fresh Avocado Salsa
CheddarWurst Topped with Fresh Avocado Salsa

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm® CheddarWurst® Sausage
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice, divided
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 avocado, peeled, chopped
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded, chopped
  •  1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 French bread rolls or hot dog buns, split

Directions:

1. Brush sausages with half of the lime juice; set aside remaining lime juice.

2. Combine tomatoes, avocado, onion, remaining lime juice, cilantro, jalapeno and salt.

3. Grill sausages according to package directions, turning frequently and brushing with reserved lime juice. Place one grilled sausage in each roll and generously top with avocado mixture.

Variation: Serve CheddarWurst® in tortilla instead of buns. For added zip spread bun or tortilla with chipotle flavored mayonnaise. Continue as directed above.

CheddarWurst® and Apple Kabobs
CheddarWurst® and Apple Kabobs

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm® CheddarWurst® Sausage
    1 large tart green apple, cut into 1” pieces
    1 medium red bell pepper, cut into 1” chunks
    1 small red onion, cut into 1” pieces
    ¼ cup apricot preserves
    1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Directions:

1. Cut each sausage into 3 pieces. Thread sausage, apples, peppers and onion onto 6 skewers, leaving a small space between each item.

2. Melt apricot preserves in small saucepan over low heat. Add mustard, mixing until well blended.

3. Grill kabobs over medium heat, turning frequently for 10 minutes. Brush kabobs with apricot preserves mixture and grill 2 minutes longer, or until apple and vegetables are crisp-tender.


Variation: Substitute peach, zucchini and apple jelly for apple, red bell pepper and apricot preserves.

Cook’s Tip: Rewarm jelly/preserves mixture briefly before brushing on kabobs if it has become too thick.

Apricot Glazed Smoked Sausage and Fruit Kabobs

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm® Smoked Sausage
    1 large green bell pepper, cut into 1” pieces
    1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or canned)
    1 can (15 ounces) sliced peaches, drained
    4 green onions, cut into 3” pieces
    ¼ cup apricot preserves
    2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

Directions:

  1. Cut sausage into 18 slices.  Thread sausage, pepper, pineapple, peaches and green onions onto 6 skewers, leaving a small space between each item.
  2. Combine preserves and mustard in a small bowl; set aside.
  3. Grill kabobs over medium heat, turning frequently for 10 minutes.  Brush kabobs generously with apricot mixture and grill 2 minutes longer or until peppers and onions are crisp-tender.
  • Cook’s Tip:  Substitute 1½ cups fresh peach slices for the canned peaches when they are in season.
German-Style Beer Brat Sandwich
German-Style Beer Brat Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm® Miller® High Life™ Beer Brats
    3 tablespoons Dijon mustard, divided
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    3 large onions, thinly sliced
    2 tablespoons stone ground mustard
    Salt and ground black pepper to taste
    6 French bread rolls, split

Directions:

  1. Brush sausages with 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard; set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil over medium heat in large skillet.  Add onions and cook until golden brown and tender, about 15 minutes, stirring frequently.  If onions start to brown too quickly, reduce heat to medium-low.  Stir in stone ground mustard; add salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Grill sausages according to package directions, turning frequently and brushing with remaining Dijon mustard.   Place one grilled sausage in each roll and generously top with warm onion mixture.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm® Smoked Sausage
  • 1 large onion, cut into 1” pieces
  • 1 large green bell pepper, cut into 1” pieces
  • 12 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 ounces) pineapple chunks, drained
  • ½ cup prepared teriyaki sauce  

Directions:

  1. Cut sausage into 18 slices.  Thread sausage, vegetables and pineapple onto 6 skewers, leaving a small space between each item.
  2. Grill over medium heat, turning frequently for 10 minutes.  Brush kabobs generously with teriyaki sauce and grill 2 minutes longer or until peppers and onions are crisp-tender.
Grilled Hot Links with Mango Salsa
Grilled Hot Links with Mango Salsa

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm® Beef Hot Links™
    2 cups chopped fresh mango
    1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed, drained
    ¼ cup chopped red onion
    ¼ cup chopped cilantro
    2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
    Salt to taste
    6 sausage buns, split

Directions:

  1. Combine mango, black beans, red onion, cilantro, lime juice and salt in medium bowl. 
  2. Grill Hot Links™ over medium-low heat according to package directions.
  3. Place grilled sausages in buns; top generously with mango salsa.  Serve any remaining salsa with tortilla chips.
  • Cook’s Tip:  Substitute any flavor Hillshire Farm® Smoked Sausage Links for the Hot Links.  For a change of pace, substitute 1 ripe avocado, peeled and chopped for the black beans. 

 

Apple, Sausage & Onion Kabobs
Apple, Sausage & Onion Kabobs

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm® Smoked Sausage
  • 1 large tart red apple, cut in 1” pieces
  • 1 sweet onion, cut in 1” pieces
  • 1/3  cup apple jelly
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme or ¼ teaspoon dried thyme

Directions:

  1.  Cut sausage into 18 slices.  Thread sausage, apples and onions onto 6 skewers, leaving a small space between each item.
  2. Combine apple jelly and thyme in a small saucepan; heat on medium-low until jelly melts.
  3. Grill kabobs over medium heat, turning frequently for 10 minutes.  Brush kabobs with jelly mixture and grill 2 minutes longer, or until apples and onions are crisp-tender.
  • Cook’s Tip:  Rewarm jelly mixture briefly before brushing on kabobs if it has become too thick. 

 

Spicy Sausage Packet
Spicy Sausage Packet

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm® Beef Smoked Sausage
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • ¼ cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 sausage buns, split

Directions:

  1. Cut sausage on an angle into ½” slices.  Place sausage in center of a large sheet of heavy-duty aluminum foil; top with sliced onions.
  2. Combine barbecue sauce, cilantro and pepper in small bowl.  Spread over top of onions and sausage.  Bring up foil sides.  Double fold top and ends to seal, making one large packet, leaving room for heat circulation inside.
  3. Grill packet 12-14 minutes over medium coals or until sausages are hot, turning 3-4 times during cooking.  Open pouch carefully; place sausage slices in buns and top with onions.
  • Cook’s Tip:  Substitute Hillshire Farm® Beef Hot Links™ for the Smoked Sausage.  Place sausage links (not sliced) in center of foil and proceed as above.

 

Honey Dijon Glazed Sausages
Honey Dijon Glazed Sausages

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm® Beef Smoked Sausage Links
    ¼ cup butter
    ½ cup honey
    ¼ cup Dijon mustard
    1 teaspoon salt
    6 sausage buns, split

Directions:

  1. Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat.  Add honey, mustard and salt; bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
  2. Add sausage links and cook 10-12 minutes or until thoroughly heated, turning occasionally.
  3. Place sausages in buns and serve.
  • Cook’s Tip:  For added flavor, after heating sausages, grill over medium-low heat for 3-4 minutes before serving. 

 

Zesty Italian Smoked Sausage Kabobs
Zesty Italian Smoked Sasuage Kabobs

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm® Lite Smoked Sausage
  • 2 ears sweet corn, peeled, broken into thirds
  • 3 small red potatoes, cut in half
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into 1½- inch pieces
  • 6 cherry tomatoes
  • 2 small zucchini, cut into 1-inch slices
  • 6 large fresh mushrooms
  • 1 cup fat-free Italian salad dressing
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Directions:

  1. Cut sausage into 1” slices; set aside.  Cook corn and potatoes in boiling water for 5-6 minutes or until just barely tender; drain.
  2. Thread sausage and vegetables onto 6 skewers.  Combine salad dressing and garlic; brush generously on kabobs.
  3. Grill over medium heat for 8-10 minutes or until sausages are browned and vegetables are tender, turning often and basting frequently with remaining dressing mixture.
Caprese Salad Topped Smoked Sausage Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm® Hot & Spicy Italian Style Smoked Sausage Links
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cups grape tomatoes, cut in half
  • 1 pkg. (8 ounces) fresh small mozzarella balls (ciliegine-sized), cut into quarters
  • 1 tablespoon chopped red onion
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 6 French bread rolls, split

Directions:

  1. Brush sausages with balsamic vinegar; set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil over medium heat in small skillet.  Add tomatoes and cook until soft, about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.  In small bowl, combine tomatoes, mozzarella, red onion, basil and salt.
  3. Grill sausages according to package directions, turning frequently and brushing with balsamic vinegar.   Place one grilled sausage in each roll and generously top with tomato-mozzarella mixture.
